Children’s Day, May 27th is a day recognised to celebrate children. Children’s Day is all about the importance of a healthy childhood, and how we need to protect the rights and freedoms of children to ensure they grow into happy, healthy adults.

Gifting your child on children’s day can serve as a form of encouragement, particularly if they have been performing very well at school. Remember it is not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving that counts.

Here are a few great gift ideas for your children:

Books: we all know the importance of education especially in Nigeria and the ability for a child to learn to read and write, we have to catch them young by introducing books and educational materials to our children. Gifting a fun educational book or a storybook would go a long way in improving their general knowledge and vocabulary. Choose books with attractive pictures, fun characters, and a simple story. You can read some of those stories to your child at night, to have a bonding session with them. Here are some highly recommended books and educational activitity sets your kids would love;

5. Personalized Kraft book {you can have the child’s name personalized on it}

Sweet Treats: Are you planning to gift chocolates and cookies to your kids on Children’s Day? Go ahead and indulge them a little, they would love you for it. If you are worried about the sugar content, you can control their portions. We have an interesting collection of sweet treats to choose from;

Puzzles or Board Games: Children love to exercise their minds and think up strategies, so a puzzle or a board game will be a perfect Children’s Day gift. Kids these days are quite tech-savvy than we were at their age. Try getting them Snakes and Ladders, Chess, Beginner’s Scrabble or a nice picture puzzle of their favourite character. You can even play these games with your child and have a great time together as a family. Some of the games you can check from our website are;

Potted Plants:This is a unique and worthwhile gift choice for your child. Find a cute potted plant and tie a bright ribbon around it. Add a card with an interesting fact about the plant. When you gift it to your child, take a few moments to explain how he/she should take care of it himself and give it water and sunshine as needed. Tell them the plant will be like their baby to look after. The responsibility assigned will make your child feel important and proud. And they will be ready to take responsibilities in the future as well. Here are some planters you can check out from the website;

Teepee Tent: Every child loves their very own play tent. They can read books, act out the stories their imagination, and play alone. Our Teepee for kids can be set up either indoor or outdoor. Kids can enjoy the feeling of privacy and personal space, while parents can monitor them.

Personalised throw pillow: you can have the child’s name or picture on the pillow which can serve as a decorative gift which can be placed in their rooms just something that they can easily access to as their own.

Vintage themed table clock:This is a great gift for your kid if you are teaching them how to read the clock. They will feel proud with this gift as it can make them feel like a true ‘adult’ who can read time. Choose a clock which is made of a material which is not easily breakable and has your child’s favourite cartoon character on it will be an added advantage. You can order it from the website too.

Children’s Day is a special day for kids, but it is important to remember that you have to treat your child like every day with him or her is special. Give simple gifts like this every once in a while. After all, you don’t need a particular day to celebrate the love for your children!

On this day, celebrate the children around you, and the child within yourself. Happy International Children’s Day to all children out there from all of us at the Giftfairy quarters!!
